MILLBROOK, Ala. (WSFA<\/a>) – One year ago today, we introduced you to a Millbrook husband and wife<\/a> who both received stage four cancer diagnoses within the same week. <\/p>\n

Today, they\u2019re still fighting, but the fight gets more difficult by the day.<\/p>\n

A year ago, Wendy Wilson shared she was facing stage four breast cancer, her fourth cancer battle, just days after her husband Kevin was diagnosed with stage four prostate cancer. Kevin is now in remission, but Wendy\u2019s battle continues.<\/p>\n

\u201cOver the last nine months I have been going through chemotherapy,\u201d Wilson said. \u201cBack in March, the drugs stopped working. My chemo was no longer being effective, so we decided to go ahead and have surgery. So I had a double mastectomy done. They were hoping that they were going to get a majority of my cancer when they had surgery; however, they did not.\u201d<\/p>\n

Wilson has seven lymph nodes under her arms that are showing cancer, multiple cancerous tumors across her chest, and several cancerous lesions across her stomach.<\/p>\n

\u201cI went to my oncologist this week and we are going to start a new drug on Monday,\u201d she said. \u201cI start a drug called Enhertu.\u201d<\/p>\n

Wilson says she\u2019s running out of options. She has an appointment next week at MD Anderson<\/a>– a highly respected cancer center in Texas-, but it\u2019s out of network. <\/p>\n

\u201cMajority of the money that we already made has gone to my chemo that I\u2019ve already had because my cancer, my insurance didn\u2019t cover my cancer drugs before,\u201d she said. \u201cSo anything would help. I mean, and if you can\u2019t, I understand prayers. Just pray for me, please.\u201d<\/p>\n

To the people who donated to her treatments last year, she says she is incredibly grateful.<\/p>\n

\u201cWithout that, you know, I wouldn\u2019t have been able to pay my bills, and I wouldn\u2019t have been able to pay for the cancer drugs that I did pay for,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

In the face of adversity, she says she will continue fighting until she can\u2019t any longer.<\/p>\n

\u201cI can\u2019t give up,\u201d she said. \u201cI can\u2019t let my kids see me give up. I just, it\u2019s just not in me.\u201d<\/p>\n
