This caused officers to immediately back out of the home, with the man proceeding to barricade himself inside of it.As a result, police say that a trained SWAT negotiator was sent to the scene to communicate with the suspect. However, the man is said to have repeatedly refused the negotiator’s requests to leave the home.Approximately four hours after the standoff began, police say that the man was eventually persuaded by the negotiator to come outside and peacefully surrender himself to officers at the scene. After his arrest, the suspect was identified by Kenton County officers as 62-year-old Delbert Hornsby.Police say that Hornsby was then immediately treated for “medical issues” that he had suffered during the standoff. However, officers did not specifically say what Hornsby was being treated for or if he went to a nearby hospital for that care.No officer injuries were reported as a result of the standoff. Additionally, despite’s Hornsby’s brandishing of a handgun, police say that no gunshots were fired by anyone during the incident.Hornsby’s wife reportedly managed to escape from the residence shortly after officers arrived on scene. The Kenton County Police Department says that they have been called out to the address in the past for prior disturbances, but did not elaborate further.Hornsby is expected to be charged with wanton endangerment, unlawful imprisonment, and assault.Kenton County Police say that they were assisted at the scene by Kenton County Regional SWAT, the Taylor Mill Police Department, the Covington Police Department, the Taylor Mill Fire Department, the Ryland Heights Fire Department, UC AirCare, and MedEvac throughout the course of the standoff.

      RYLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. —

Kenton County police say that a man has been arrested after a prolonged SWAT standoff occurred in Ryland Heights on Saturday.

According to police, the standoff started just before 3 p.m. after officers received a call about a domestic dispute at a residence on the 4100 block of Whites Road.

As police arrived on scene minutes later, the man reportedly brandished a handgun at responding officers as they attempted to enter his residence.
