With the NBA draft right around the corner, now is the time to look at some past drafts and see what the Philadelphia 76ers<\/a> have done in their history. The Sixers have selected some big-time players in the past who have become an important part of the fabric of the franchise’s history.<\/p>\n

After making a move for Zhaire Smith<\/a> earlier in the draft, the Sixers had another selection at No. 26. With that selection, they went with Landry Shamet<\/a> out of Wichita State. Shamet was a solid rookie with the Sixers. He played 54 games and he averaged 8.3 points and 1.4 rebounds while shooting 40.4% from deep. He was terrific coming off screens, and it was obvious that he was learning from JJ Redick<\/a>. He had a game where he knocked down eight 3s for Philadelphia<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Shamet’s time in Philadelphia was very short. He was traded to the Los Angeles Clippers<\/a> at the 2019 deadline in the Tobias Harris<\/a> deal after playing in only 54 games for Philadelphia. He has since played for the Brooklyn Nets<\/a>, Phoenix Suns<\/a>, Washington Wizards<\/a>, and is now with the New York Knicks<\/a> where he won a championship in 2026.<\/p>\n
