Brazil\u2019s football confederation has denied allegations its funds covered personal travel for its president, after a Brazilian outlet reported he flew an associate to New York before the World Cup.<\/p>\n

Portal Leo Dias reported on June 15 that Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) president Samir Xaud used federation funds to fly Camila Cristina Andrade, described in the report as a fitness entrepreneur, to New York, where she reportedly spent eight days at the Hyatt Regency Grand Central on a reservation the outlet said was booked under Xaud\u2019s name, at a cost of roughly $11,500. The outlet published photos it said showed the two dining together at Harry Cipriani on June 3 before leaving in a vehicle it alleged was rented by the federation. None of the claims have been independently verified beyond Portal Leo Dias\u2019s reporting.<\/p>\n

The CBF rejected the allegations in a statement to Radio Itatiaia. \u201cExpenses incurred by the entity are exclusively linked to the CBF\u2019s institutional activities,\u201d the federation said, adding that personal expenses of its directors are covered by the directors themselves and that the current administration is built on transparency and accountability.<\/p>\n

Xaud reportedly paid the New York hotel bill himself after Portal Leo Dias contacted him about the allegations, according to the outlet Infobae. The CBF was reportedly given until June 16 to provide further clarification on other expenses the outlet had questioned. Neither Xaud, his wife nor the CBF has responded to requests for comment from multiple news organisations, and Andrade has not been reached for comment either.<\/p>\n

Portal Leo Dias separately reported that Xaud used federation funds to send Tamares Fernandes Barcellos, described as a model and influencer, to Qatar in December 2025 for a FIFA Intercontinental Cup match, with a business class flight and a stay at the Ritz-Carlton Doha the outlet said cost the federation close to $3,400. The outlet alleged this reflected a broader pattern of using federation resources to cover travel for family members, friends and other women since Xaud took office.<\/p>\n

Xaud, a 42 year old doctor, was elected CBF president unopposed in May 2025 after predecessor Ednaldo Rodrigues was removed from the role. The allegations surfaced as Brazil opened its World Cup campaign with a draw against Morocco. Xaud briefly stepped away from the team\u2019s training base in New Jersey before returning to attend Brazil\u2019s 3-0 win over Haiti, where he was seen in a stadium suite alongside FIFA president Gianni Infantino. He reportedly later travelled to Mexico City, where he was seen with his wife, Natalia Xaud, around the World Cup\u2019s opening ceremony.<\/p>\n
