Anchor Wolf Blitzen was interviewing Ontario Premier Doug Ford of the Progressive Conservative Party via video link when the conversation about Trump took a dramatic turn.<\/p>\n

Blitzen inquired, “What’s the general impression of Trump in Canada?”, to which Ford replied, “He’s probably the most disliked politician in the world in Canada, because he’s attacked his closest family member, that’s how we look at it.”<\/a><\/p>\n

Ford continued, discussing the internal conflict among U.S. politicians, “When I talk to the governors, senators and congresspeople, even Republicans, totally disagree but they’re too scared to come out and say anything because the president will go after them – outside of a few senators.”<\/p>\n

He continued, “I want to thank them for coming out and standing not just with American people but their closest friends and allies which is Canada.”<\/p>\n

Ford emphasized the bond between the two nations, saying, “Again, we love the Americans – it’s unfortunate President Trump decided to go down this road,”.<\/p>\n

During the broadcast, a breaking news ticker read: “Canadian PM Carney, Trump at impasse over trade.”<\/p>\n

However, Trump supporters quickly jumped to his defense on social media platforms. One user tweeted in support of the President, “That’s why @POTUS is president here. Who cares what other countries think of him? Really, who cares?”.<\/p>\n

Another concurred, pointing out Ford’s own reputation: “Premier Doug Ford isn’t held in the highest esteem here in the US, so..”<\/p>\n
