\n\tTom Holland<\/a>\u00a0knew Robert Downey Jr.<\/a> was returning to Marvel as Doctor Doom long before<\/a> the studio announced it to the public. Holland is infamous among Marvel fans for letting spoilers slip early (the\u00a0YouTube compilation<\/a>\u00a0titled \u201cTom Holland Spoiling Marvel Movies for 13 Minutes Straight\u201d has 21 million views), but he managed to keep Downey\u2019s news a secret save for telling one person immediately. Zendaya<\/a>, Holland\u2019s wife and longtime \u201cSpider-Man\u201d wife, told Cinemania that she found out \u201cright away\u201d once Downey told Holland.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI think I hung up the phone and said [to Zendaya], \u2018Downey is coming back,’\u201d Holland admitted. \u201c[Robert and I] just have casual catch-ups every now and then. He called and told me. It\u2019s really exciting. I don\u2019t know a lot about those movies by design. I have a reputation for spoiling certain things and I think the studio is keeping me from the juicy details\u2026 when I do get to grace that set, I am so curious what does that mean for Peter [Parker] and how does that work. It\u2019s really cool. I am really excited about whatever it is they are doing.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tHolland\u00a0revealed on the\u00a0\u201cRich Roll\u201d podcast<\/a>\u00a0in 2024 that he was one of the select few people Downey told about coming back to Marvel, adding: \u201cI\u2019ve been speaking to [Robert] a lot, especially about him making his [Marvel] return, which is super exciting. That was a tough secret to sit on because I have a reputation for ruining things and I strategically have done no press.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tZendaya and Holland have been making the international press rounds in support of \u201cSpider-Man: Brand New Day,\u201d which opens in theaters July 31. The couple is also appearing in Christoper Nolan\u2019s \u201cThe Odyssey,\u201d opening July 17. Holland confirmed<\/a> earlier this month the two got married this year.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cOur business can present very stressful situations and it\u2019s really nice to have a bedrock of a relationship that will stand the test of time,\u201d Holland told \u00a0Esquire<\/a> about their relationship. \u201cWe can support each other in ways that only we can, because only we understand really what it\u2019s like to live this life, and I think that is such a luxury, because I just don\u2019t understand how I would be able to have anything like that with anyone else. So, for me, I found my person. She\u2019s my best friend, and I\u2019m the happiest I ever have been when I\u2019m with her, but I also have never felt so supported and safe, ever. Period.\u201d<\/p>\n
