(WKYT) &#8211; Lexington can now add itself to the list of communities with recent black bear sightings.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The Lexington-Herald Leader <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kentucky.com\/news\/local\/article316215811.html?utm_campaign=trueanthem&amp;utm_medium=social&amp;utm_source=facebook&amp;fbclid=IwY2xjawSmJyxleHRuA2FlbQIxMQBzcnRjBmFwcF9pZBAyMjIwMzkxNzg4MjAwODkyAAEeHg16FQA-_evMKKiugG-uba1lIZ06yReHxWOBA1sm9JxusID2SEKZ4DVzW4g_aem_u4pZz3DOK7-MSfCypkrTUQ\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">reported<\/a> that a young black bear was spotted traveling through the Masterson Station neighborhood on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Officials with the Kentucky Department of Fish &amp; Wildlife Resources confirmed to WKYT that they are aware of the reports but that specific information is limited.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"link | text-reset d-block h-100 w-100\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wkyt.com\/page\/wkyt-apps-for-ios-and-android-devices\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_self\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"figure-img img-fluid mx-auto d-block\" alt=\"WKYT Streaming Apps\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/1782192849_162_MEPHTWNVMREWLEQQWWFJM27ZMA.png\" width=\"980\" height=\"199\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cWe have heard about the bear sighting in Masterson Station. We don\u2019t have any information other than what the neighbors posted on social media,\u201d the department\u2019s Lisa Jackson said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">However, it is common to see black bears in this area of the state during this time of the year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cYoung male bears from the mountain counties can make it to and through central Kentucky in the late spring or early summer, which can lead them into urban areas without them meaning to do so,\u201d Jackson said.<\/p>\n<p>Copyright 2026 WKYT.
