(WSBT) \u2014 A LaPorte County Deputy shot in the line of duty inside a Michigan City hospital continues to make strides in his recovery.<\/p>\n<p>In an update posted Friday, Deputy Jon Samuelson underwent testing on his left arm.<\/p>\n<p>Doctors believe a cluster of nerves were damaged from the shockwave from one of the bullets, and they are hopeful the nerves will recover over time.<\/p>\n<p>RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/wsbt.com\/news\/local\/injured-deputy-shot-line-duty-hospital-physical-therapy-recovery-progress-michigan-city-laporte-county-indiana\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Deputy Jon Samuelson makes progress in physical therapy<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Samuelson has been working extra hard in physical therapy, which has been focusing on getting his core strength back and motor skills in his hands.<\/p>\n<p>He is reportedly still keeping up a positive attitude and has made many friends in group therapy sessions.<\/p>\n<p>Samuelson has been receiving physical therapy in Chicago after he was shot inside Franciscan Health in Michigan City in late May.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"LAPORTE COUNTY, Ind.
