The Athletic launched an investigation into Russini&#8217;s relationship with Vrabel, which led to her resignation.<\/p>\n<p>According to the latest reports, The Athletic and its parent company, the New York Times, are continuing their investigation. And on Monday, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportskeeda.com\/nfl\/san-francisco-49ers\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" data-is-sponsored=\"false\">San Francisco 49ers<\/a> podcaster Tony Farmer shared the latest update on the investigation in an X post.<\/p>\n<p><img id=\"subscribe-img\" loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/p>\n<p>\nThanks for the submission!\n<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I received communication this morning from a writer at The Athletic who I promised not to name,&#8221; Farmer wrote on X. &#8220;Many have speculated that The Athletic\u2019s investigation into Dianna Russini\u2019s journalism could be aided by technology if she was given a company phone\/laptop.                            <\/p>\n<p> \u2022 <\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"march-madness-logo\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/march-madness-logo.png\" height=\"42\" width=\"99\" alt=\"march madness logo\"\/><\/p>\n<p>            &#8220;Keep in mind Dianna Russini\u2019s professional profile likely gave her negotiating powers other writers didn\u2019t have, so it\u2019s possible she received more than a laptop (cell phone, tablet, etc.). Farmer alleged that Russini was aware of the Patriots&#8217; negotiations with Moses before the legal tampering period.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPeople completely misunderstand the implications of Dianna Russini\u2019s deleted Morgan Moses tweet (2025) &#8212; it\u2019s not potential evidence of wrongdoing between Russini and Vrabel,&#8221; he wrote. &#8220;It\u2019s potential evidence of alleged wrongdoing by the Patriots (tampering) and evidence Russini and Vrabel talked about that alleged wrongdoing by New England.\u201cPeople on X called for an investigation at the time. Most journalists and the NFL completely ignored it.
