PlayStation is currently experimenting with the way it delivers PS Plus Extra<\/a> and PS Plus Premium<\/a> titles in the USA, UK, and Japan, and the method it’s adopted isn’t going down particularly well with those affected.<\/p>\n

For years now, the monthly lineup of games has been delivered all at once on the Tuesday following the reveal. Now, in the USA, UK, and Japan territories alone, that big drop of PS5, PS4, and Classic games is being stretched out across a few weeks.<\/p>\n

As an example, here’s what the June 2026 schedule for PS Plus Extra has looked like:<\/p>\n

Everywhere else in the world is unaffected by the change; they all received the games above as usual on 16th June, the Tuesday after the announcement was made. This is creating confusion for some users as they now have to check when a game will actually be available in their region, and in some cases, even that answer can vary.<\/p>\n

Sonic X Shadows Generation was out for PS Plus Extra members in the USA and the UK on 10th June, but then came to Japan a day later. If you’ve been wanting to play Blades of Fire, you’re being made to wait a further two weeks beyond what you’re used to, just because Sony wants to experiment a little with its delivery method.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, every other country where PS Plus is available has already had access for a while via the subscription.<\/p>\n

Sony didn’t share an official reason<\/a> for the experiment; it simply said it’s “exploring new ways to deliver PlayStation Plus Game Catalog titles in select markets”. We think it’s to increase engagement in the service, so you are checking the PS Plus app on PS5 more often to see what’s new.<\/p>\n

However, the response hasn’t been kind. I’ve noticed our comments sections for anything related to PS Plus recently be filled with complaints surrounding the new rollout method. As of this morning, Kingdom Come: Deliverance and Life Is Strange: Double Exposure became available on PS Plus Extra<\/a>, and all anyone wants to talk about is why they had to wait.<\/p>\n

Dogmanstar<\/a> said they are not a fan of the new method: “There was only one game I was mildly interested in this month and I’m still having to wait till next week to get it.” Bluemoon 2008<\/a> shared a similar sentiment: “Already deeply disliking this new split release method, blades of fire is the only one this month I want to play.”<\/p>\n
