ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) – A new study sheds light on why addiction to ultra-processed foods appears to be growing in the United States.<\/p>\n
The study says those foods combine refined carbohydrates, fats and high energy density in ways not often found in most foods minimally-processed.<\/p>\n
One of the study\u2019s authors who created the Yale Food Addiction Scale calls it an \u201caddictive punch.\u201d<\/p>\n
She says 12% of children globally are clinically addicted to ultra-processed foods.<\/p>\n
The scale shows 14% of older U.S. adults are too, and the number is growing.<\/p>\n

The women were ages 20 to 24 between the years 2020 and 2024, with 88 to 90 percent vaccination coverage at ages 12 to 13.<\/p>\n
The study shows previous generations of women in England had lower HPV vaccination rates and more fatalities.<\/p>\n
The findings don\u2019t necessarily reflect the situation in other countries.<\/p>\n
A study earlier this year from the American Cancer Society looks at cervical cancer risks in the United States. It shows those declined faster in states with higher HPV vaccination rates.<\/p>\n
