Manila,\u00a0June\u00a024, 2026\u2014The U.S. Embassy in the Philippines, in partnership with SM\u00a0Mall of Asia, invites the public to a free musical celebration featuring the U.S. Marine Corps Forces Pacific (MARFORPAC) Band on June 28,\u00a05:00 p.m.,\u00a0at the SM Mall of Asia Sky Amphitheater in Pasay City.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The performance is part of the United States\u2019 \u201cFreedom 250\u201d campaign,\u00a0which\u00a0commemorates\u00a0the 250th anniversary of American independence\u00a0and highlights the enduring friendship between the United States and the Philippines as both\u00a0nations\u00a0mark 80 years of diplomatic relations\u00a0and 75 years of the Mutual Defense Treaty in 2026.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Joining the MARFORPAC Band onstage are the Armed Forces of the Philippines Band and performers from the World Championship of Performing Arts for an evening celebrating\u00a0cultural\u00a0heritage, musical excellence, and\u00a0shared history.\u00a0\u00a0

\u201cAt its heart, Freedom 250 is more than a milestone\u2014it is a moment to honor what America stands for and the ideals that have shaped it across generations.\u00a0\u00a0Through the music of the MARFORPAC Band, that story is told without words, carried by the artistry, discipline, and goodwill that U.S. military musicians have brought to stages around the world.\u00a0\u00a0We are proud to share that experience here, as a reflection of the deep and enduring bond between our two nations,\u201d said U.S. Embassy Deputy Director of Public Engagement Chad Kinnear.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The\u00a0MARFORPAC\u00a0Band is\u00a0comprised\u00a0of 39 Marines, with\u00a010\u00a0members visiting the Philippines as part of the brass ensemble.\u00a0\u00a0The Marines serve as both fully trained riflemen and professional musicians, bringing high-energy jazz and contemporary music to audiences\u00a0across the Indo-Pacific, including\u00a0Hawaii,\u00a0Tonga, Fiji, China, Australia, New Zealand, Guadalcanal, Iwo\u00a0To\u00a0(formerly known as Iwo Jima), and American Samoa.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cThey are not only musicians\u2014they are Marines.\u00a0\u00a0Every one of them completed the same recruit training as every other Marine who has ever served under\u202four\u202fflag.\u00a0\u00a0They earned the Eagle, Globe, and Anchor.\u00a0\u00a0Music is how they serve\u2014and in every note they play, they carry the values of this Corps:\u00a0honor,\u00a0courage, and\u00a0commitment.\u202fThe Marine Corps is America\u2019s Naval Expeditionary Force in Readiness\u2014deployed by air, land, and sea to defend the United States\u202fand its allies wherever the mission demands.\u00a0\u00a0We recruit America\u2019s best, forge them into Marines, and return quality citizens to the communities that raised them,\u201d\u00a0said U.S. Marine Chief Warrant Officer 2 Aaron Carpenter, who\u00a0also serves as the band\u2019s director.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
During their visit to the Philippines, the band members will also conduct music workshops for students at the Philippine High School for the Arts and the University of the East.\u00a0\u00a0The tour will culminate at the\u00a0U.S. Embassy\u2019s annual Independence Day reception, held as part of the \u201cFreedom 250\u201d campaign celebrating\u00a0America\u2019s founding principles, dynamism, innovation, and global leadership.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
