All practices will begin at 8:30 a.m. EST and are subject to change. The 2026 Training Camp will be presented by BigBear.ai and supported by cornerstone partners Bank of America, Clark Construction and Pepsi.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1upudxki _174s0un1 _174s0un0 _1mt21p01\">Fans can claim their free tickets for training camp open practices beginning June 23 at 10:00 a.m. by visiting Commanders.com\/TrainingCamp while supplies last. All parking will be on site at the BigBear.ai Performance Center, and all fans must have a parking pass to access the lot. Okonkwo was one of the Titans\u2019 most reliable weapons during his four-year contract, catching at least 50 passes in each of the last three seasons and accounting for five touchdowns.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1upudxki _174s0un1 _174s0un0 _1mt21p01\">But Okonkwo was looking for another opportunity at 26 years old, and he feels like the Commanders, whose stadium is just a few miles away from where he went to college at the University of Maryland, are the best team to get the most out of his skill set.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1upudxki _174s0un1 _174s0un0 _1mt21p01\">Not much is known about the scheme, but based on Blough\u2019s history as a player, it\u2019s believed that it will implement more play-action passes and put players in motion more often, similar to Ben Johnson\u2019s system with the Chicago Bears.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/atozsports.com\/nfl\/washington-commanders-news\/commanders-way-too-early-53-man-roster-projection-rookie-steals-job-from-former-first-rounder-another-change-at-a-key-position-and-more\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Commanders\u2019 way-too-early 53-man roster projection<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1upudxki _174s0un1 _174s0un0 _1mt21p01\">IN: Terry McLaurin, Antonio Williams*, Luke McCaffrey, Dyami Brown, Jalin Layne, Jaden Bradley**<br \/>OUT: Treylon Burks, Nick Nash, Jacoby Jones, Van Jefferson, Chris Hilton Jr.**<br \/>The skinny: The wide receiver competition comes down to Jayden Bradley and Treylon Burks for the final spot. I don\u2019t have much faith in Burks, the former first-round pick who flamed out in Tennessee. Sure, he had that amazing touchdown catch against the Broncos last year, but his overall body of work since entering the NFL has not been impressive. Bradley has turned heads in camp, so, I\u2019m betting on the young, hungry player who wants to make the roster over the former first-rounder who has yet to put it all together.<\/p>\n<p>EDGE\/Outside Linebacker (5)<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1upudxki _174s0un1 _174s0un0 _1mt21p01\">IN: Odafe Oweh, K\u2019Lavon Chaisson, Dorance Armstrong, Joshua Josephs*, Javontae Jean-Baptiste<br \/>OUT: Drake Jackson, DJ Johnson, Andre Carter II, T.J. Maguranyanga<br \/>The skinny: At EDGE, the two questions are when Dorrance Armstrong will be ready after his season-ending injury and who claims that final spot. Right now, I\u2019m giving it to Jean-Baptiste. He\u2019s shown enough over the past couple of years and has the traits to rush out of a two-point stance. I\u2019m out on Drake Jackson, the former second-rounder. He\u2019s not the player Washington needs in that role, and the remaining options don\u2019t pack the same punch.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/riggosrag.com\/commanders-fans-will-soon-get-answers-david-blough-unfinished-offense\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Commanders offense remains a work in progress, which is no real surprise<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1upudxki _174s0un1 _174s0un0 _1mt21p01\">Jhabvala, who received backlash for noting that something was off last summer, <a href=\"https:\/\/riggosrag.com\/commanders-insider-wont-back-down-ruthless-take-ages-like-fine-wine\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">and she was right<\/a>, thought the Commanders\u2019 offense was far from complete. There are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/7379705\/2026\/06\/22\/nfl-offseason-workouts-teams-observations-takeaways\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">questions to answer<\/a>, most notably at wide receiver and tight end. And they need to get worked out over the summer before Week 1 against the Philadelphia Eagles.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup _1bij9g78 _1mt21p01\">\u201dDan Quinn believes the switch is a necessary gamble to help Daniels and to get the team back to the playoffs. But if the last two years (and the last few weeks of OTAs and minicamp) proved anything, it\u2019s that Washington\u2019s offense is hardly complete.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup _1bij9g78 _1mt21p01\">\u201cThe team doesn\u2019t have a clear No. 2 at wide receiver to complement Terry McLaurin, competition in the running backs room is wide open and the identity of the tight ends is unclear.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1upudxki _174s0un1 _174s0un0 _1mt21p01\">There is no need to press the panic button. The Commanders have only just <a href=\"https:\/\/riggosrag.com\/5-winners-3-losers-from-washington-commanders-2026-minicamp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">completed mandatory minicamp<\/a>. There is a training camp, joint practices, and the preseason to get through before things get real.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/7383903\/2026\/06\/24\/nfl-offensive-play-callers-2026\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">NFL\u2019s 6 first-time offensive play callers in 2026 get advice: \u2018Let it rip\u2019<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1upudxki _174s0un1 _174s0un0 _1mt21p01\">This group also includes the Philadelphia Eagles\u2019 Sean Mannion, Washington Commanders\u2019 David Blough, Carolina Panthers\u2019 Brad Idzik, Baltimore Ravens\u2019 Declan Doyle and Seattle Seahawks\u2019 Brian Fleury. The Super Bowl champion Seahawks turned to Fleury after Klint Kubiak was hired as the Las Vegas Raiders\u2019 head coach, but the other changes were made by teams trying to squeeze more out of their offenses than in 2025. They are betting their new play callers can replicate the experience of Kellen Moore, Kyle Shanahan or Sean McVay, assistants who guided top-tier attacks during their first seasons in a quarterback\u2019s ear.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1upudxki _174s0un1 _174s0un0 _1mt21p01\">In 2025 alone, three teams hired first-time play callers \u2014 Kevin Patullo of the Eagles, Tanner Engstrand of the New York Jets and Josh Grizzard of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers \u2014 only to fire them at season\u2019s end.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1upudxki _174s0un1 _174s0un0 _1mt21p01\">So what gives first-timers the best chance to take flight?<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1upudxki _174s0un1 _174s0un0 _1mt21p01\">It is a collaborative effort,\u201d McVay said. \u201cEverybody\u2019s on the headset; we\u2019ve got a plan, and ultimately somebody\u2019s got to send it in to the quarterback.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1upudxki _174s0un1 _174s0un0 _1mt21p01\">Still, it\u2019s the play caller\u2019s responsibility to compartmentalize all that dialogue and deliver clear directives to the quarterback quickly enough to give the QB the time he needs on the back end to make adjustments at the line of scrimmage. It\u2019s that aspect of the job a coach can\u2019t truly know how to navigate until he\u2019s actually doing it. Has the team done enough to upgrade the personnel in the secondary? And is the new defensive line with elite interior players still going to stop the run when they face stiffer competition? And how good will the defensive scheme be? Christian Parker\u2019s tenure with the Eagles is not really a good measuring stick for that; the Eagles topped the league in 2024 with just five total big-game performances allowed, but then dropped to T24th with 12 in 2025.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1upudxki _174s0un1 _174s0un0 _1mt21p01\">If there is one reason for optimism, it\u2019s that the Cowboys offense ranked first in the league with 22 big-game performances last year, and if they maintain that pace, the defense may not need to shut down big-game performances, even just reducing the number a little bit would go a long way.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/story\/_\/id\/49157990\/bills-great-jim-kelly-says-recently-had-stroke-feels-good\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Bills great Jim Kelly says he recently had stroke but feels \u2018good\u2019<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1upudxki _174s0un1 _174s0un0 _1mt21p01\">Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback Jim Kelly said Tuesday that he suffered a stroke this spring and subsequently spent a few days in the hospital but currently feels \u201creally good.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1upudxki _174s0un1 _174s0un0 _1mt21p01\">Kelly was speaking with reporters at the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Buffalo Bills\u2019 new stadium.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1upudxki _174s0un1 _174s0un0 _1mt21p01\">\u201cI had a little setback about a month and a half ago,\u201d Kelly said. \u201cBut right now, I feel good. Eyesight\u2019s not great. My hearing still sucks, but that\u2019s part of life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1upudxki _174s0un1 _174s0un0 _1mt21p01\">Kelly, 66, has dealt with a variety of health issues over the years and has been diagnosed with cancer multiple times. He initially had surgery in 2013 to remove squamous cell carcinoma of the upper jawbone and underwent chemotherapy treatment in 2014 when cancer was found in his maxillary sinus. Kelly then had surgeries in 2018 to remove oral cancer and reconstruct his upper jaw.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1upudxki _174s0un1 _174s0un0 _1mt21p01\">He said his recent scans have come back clean.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1upudxki _174s0un1 _174s0un0 _1mt21p01\">\u201cEverything\u2019s good,\u201d Kelly said. \u201cAll good.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1upudxki _174s0un1 _174s0un0 _1mt21p01\">Buried in a feature from Vic Tafur of The Athletic regarding 49ers CEO Al Guido is a comment that could eliminate the lingering electrical substation issue once and for all.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1upudxki _174s0un1 _174s0un0 _1mt21p01\">Here\u2019s the key sentence: \u201cAdditionally, they are exploring a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/7383436\/2026\/06\/23\/49ers-ceo-al-guido-bay-area-super-bowl\/?source=emp_shared_article&amp;unlocked_article_code=1.sVA.CgOH.DVOAE-ZVqcNe\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">possible nearby relocation<\/a> as they are running out of space at and next to Levi\u2019s Stadium.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1upudxki _174s0un1 _174s0un0 _1mt21p01\">No mention is made in the article of the theory that originated with players and that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcsports.com\/nfl\/profootballtalk\/rumor-mill\/news\/49ers-g-m-john-lynch-expert-found-substation-issue-was-a-big-nothing-burger\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">officially has been debunked<\/a>. Whether the players regard the connection between close proximity of an electrical substation to their practice facility and soft-tissue injuries as bunk is a different issue entirely.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1upudxki _174s0un1 _174s0un0 _1mt21p01\">The best way to take the issue off the table is to move the practice facility away from the substation. The 49ers have been there since 1988, with the nearby stadium opening in 2014.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1upudxki _174s0un1 _174s0un0 _1mt21p01\">For now, they\u2019re simply \u201cexploring\u201d the move. Once the players catch wind of that, they could be exhorting the team to do something more than explore.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/7386334\/2026\/06\/23\/ncaa-age-athlete-eligibility-rule-changes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">NCAA approves eligibility rule changes to combat surge of college athletes in their mid-20s<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1upudxki _174s0un1 _174s0un0 _1mt21p01\">NCAA Division I athletes will be allowed five years of competition in their college careers instead of four, with redshirts and waivers eliminated after the much-discussed eligibility changes were unanimously approved on Tuesday by the D-I Cabinet.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1upudxki _174s0un1 _174s0un0 _1mt21p01\">What the NCAA is calling its \u201cage-based eligibility model\u201d is expected to go into effect for athletes who have eligibility years remaining following the completion of the 2025-26 academic year. Athletes whose fourth season of eligibility was completed by spring 2026 will not be able to take advantage of the new rule, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/7235652\/2026\/04\/27\/ncaa-board-proposed-changes-eligibility-rules\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">recommendations made by the cabinet in previous discussions of the rule<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1upudxki _174s0un1 _174s0un0 _1mt21p01\">The move is intended to limit the increasing number of athletes who participate in college sports beyond five years and into their mid-20s by using waivers to gain additional seasons.
