Radio One Houston has partnered with the Harris County One for All Foundation and Mostyn Law to launch the Future Voices Media Lab, a new summer initiative designed to expose Houston-area students to careers in radio broadcasting, digital media, podcasting and content creation, giving them hands-on learning opportunities at Radio One Houston\u2019s studios.<\/p>\n
Beginning this summer, a select group of school-aged students from the One for All Foundation \u2013 which serves youth throughout Harris County through educational, leadership, recreational and summer programming opportunities \u2013 will participate in a four-day intensive media experience, including two days inside Radio One Houston\u2019s studios, home to stations such as urban AC \u201cMajic 102.1\u201d KMJQ and rhythmic CHR \u201c97.9 The Box\u201d KBXX.<\/p>\n
Students participating in the program will learn radio programming and broadcasting fundamentals, podcasting and audio production, social media and digital storytelling, promotions and event marketing, audio engineering and studio operations, team collaboration and public presentation skills. With the guidance and mentorship from industry professionals, students will work together to build and present their own radio station concepts, complete with branding, commercials, promotions and digital content campaigns.<\/p>\n
