The Buffalo Sabres traded away Buffalo native Alex Tuch to the Washington Capitals in a sign-and-trade today. But according to rumors surrounding New York Rangers<\/a> center Vincent Trocheck<\/a>, they’re not done yet.\u00a0<\/p>\n

According to a report from The Fourth Period’s David Pagnotta, the Sabres are one of multiple teams that have engaged with the Rangers regarding their top-six center, Trocheck.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Talks involving NYR centre Vincent Trocheck seem to have picked up a bit today. Some noise surrounding the Sabres engaging, among other clubs.<\/p>\n

Also, some talk that Florida has circled back on Hellebuyck. #tistheseason<\/a><\/p>\n

Trocheck was a trade target for multiple teams during the deadline in March, but general manager Chris Drury held fast onto what was seen as a ridiculous asking price for the former 70-point forward.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Now, in a tight market, the Rangers could find themselves in advantageous territory as the center position is coveted in the market, and very few are available at the moment.\u00a0<\/p>\n

According to The Athletic’s Vince Mercogliano<\/a>, the price was too high back in March:\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cThe word for weeks has been that Drury, who serves as both Rangers president and GM, was driving a hard bargain for his most valuable trade chip and telling teams he wouldn\u2019t budge if they didn\u2019t meet his price,\u201d the hockey insider reported.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was considered unreasonably high by multiple sources from interested parties, some of whom thought \u2014 or at least hoped \u2014 that Drury was posturing and would reduce his ask as the deadline approached. He did not. Drury stood his ground, and when the dust settled, Trocheck \u2014 who has three years remaining on his contract at a $5.625 million cap hit \u2014 was still a Ranger.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

However, when the dust settles after this off-season, it might be seen as a bargain considering what we’ve seen move for other roster players, including Bowen Byram and Brady Tkachuk.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In 67 games this season, Trocheck scored 53 points (16 goals, 37 assists) with a minus-16 rating<\/a> on a team led by newly-minted Rangers head coach Mike Sullivan.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Trocheck said he’d want to stay in the Eastern Conference<\/a>, and a deal between the Rangers and Sabres could be ideal for the veteran who has yet to win a Stanley Cup in New York.\u00a0<\/p>\n
