Marina \u201cMoney\u201d Mabrey made good on her nickname Thursday night.<\/p>\n
Mabrey scored 53 points in the Toronto Tempo\u2019s 125-97 win over the Los Angeles Sparks, which ties the WNBA\u2019s single-game scoring record previously set by Liz Cambage and four-time MVP A\u2019ja Wilson.<\/p>\n
Cambage set the mark as a member of the Dallas Wings playing against the New York Liberty on July 17, 2018. Wilson matched Cambage\u2019s historic scoring output on Aug. 22, 2023, in the Las Vegas Aces\u2019 game against the Atlanta Dream.<\/p>\n
\u201cNone of this happens without my teammates,\u201d Mabrey said on the broadcast postgame. \u201cThey really found me. For a 3-point shooter, you need your teammates to set screens and deliver the pass. That\u2019s what they did.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mabrey knocked down nine of her 18 3-point attempts, which ties the WNBA\u2019s single-game record for made threes. She was 17 of 28 from the field and 10 of 12 from the free-throw line.<\/p>\n

She set the tone for her historic night right out of the gate, scoring 19 points in the first quarter. Mabrey went into the half with 27 points.<\/p>\n
The Tempo signed Mabrey to a two-year, $2.4 million deal this offseason after originally selecting her in the expansion draft. She\u2019s their second-leading scorer behind guard Brittney Sykes, averaging a career-high 19.4 points per game.<\/p>\n
Mabrey has been tasked with carrying an added offensive load as Sykes remains out with a plantar fascia injury she sustained on June 16 against the Indiana Fever.<\/p>\n
Mabrey\u2019s previous career high was 37 points, which she scored on June 19 against the Connecticut Sun.
