{"id":727086,"date":"2026-06-26T11:19:09","date_gmt":"2026-06-26T11:19:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/727086\/"},"modified":"2026-06-26T11:19:09","modified_gmt":"2026-06-26T11:19:09","slug":"bbc-buys-ghosts-australia-to-sit-alongside-original-british-sitcom","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/727086\/","title":{"rendered":"BBC Buys &#8216;Ghosts Australia&#8217; To Sit Alongside Original British Sitcom"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tThe <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/bbc\/\" id=\"auto-tag_bbc\" data-tag=\"bbc\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">BBC<\/a> has acquired <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/ghosts\/\" id=\"auto-tag_ghosts\" data-tag=\"ghosts\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Ghosts<\/a> Australia, which will sit alongside the British and American versions at the UK pubcaster.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tThe eight-part series from <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/bbc-studios\/\" id=\"auto-tag_bbc-studios\" data-tag=\"bbc-studios\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">BBC Studios<\/a> Australia Productions stars Tamala (Cleverman, Nowhere Boys) and Rowan Witt (Totally Completely Fine, Book Of Mormon) as the couple who inherit a dilapidated country manor home, only to find it inhabited by an eccentric group of ghosts.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tMandy McElhinney (Love Child, House of Hancock), Brent Hill (Hamilton, School of Rock), Ines English (Last Days of the Space Age, The Last Anniversary), Michelle Brasier (Thank God You\u2019re Here, Aunty Donna), George Zhao (The Family Law, Gold Diggers) and Jackson Tozer (Ricky Stanicky, Deadloch) play the apparitions.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tThe show, which was for <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/paramount-2\/\" id=\"auto-tag_paramount-2\" data-tag=\"paramount-2\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Paramount+<\/a> in Australia, will play on BBC iPlayer and BBC Three in the UK. BBC Studios\u2019 local division produced the show with investment from Screenwest and the Western Australian Production Attraction Incentive. BBC Studios has distribution rights.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tChristiaan Van Vuuren and Madeleine Dyer are the directors, with Josh Mapleston the writer. Libby Butler is script editor and writer, with Shontell Ketchell, Philip Tarl Denson and Steph Tisdell also writing. Bree-Anne Sykes is the producer and Sophia Zachariou exec produced alongside Kylie Washington, EVP and Creative Director at BBC Studios ANZ, and  Sophia Mogford, Paramount ANZ Head of Scripted and Comedy.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t<a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/ghosts-australia\/\" id=\"auto-tag_ghosts-australia\" data-tag=\"ghosts-australia\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Ghosts Australia<\/a> is one of several remakes that have followed the BBC\u2019s original hit sitcom, which is from Monumental Television and stars Charlotte Ritchie and Kiell Smith-Bynoe as the couple.
