{"id":727216,"date":"2026-06-26T12:55:08","date_gmt":"2026-06-26T12:55:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/727216\/"},"modified":"2026-06-26T12:55:08","modified_gmt":"2026-06-26T12:55:08","slug":"pixar-announces-new-theatrical-short-loving-dory","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/727216\/","title":{"rendered":"Pixar Announces New Theatrical Short &#8216;Loving Dory&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tAs <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/pixar\/\" id=\"auto-tag_pixar\" data-tag=\"pixar\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Pixar<\/a> basks in the success of Toy Story 5, it has announced new theatrical short <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/loving-dory\/\" id=\"auto-tag_loving-dory\" data-tag=\"loving-dory\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Loving Dory<\/a>, directed by Lou Hamou-Lhadj (Borrowed Time).<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tThe new work \u2013 tapping into the Dory and Nemo waterverse \u2013 sees Dory enjoy an unexpected dalliance with a plastic bag floating through the sea.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tThe short was announced at a Pixar session at the <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/annecy\/\" id=\"auto-tag_annecy\" data-tag=\"annecy\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Annecy<\/a> International Film Festival on Friday, where the  animation studio also premiered a handful of finished scenes for its upcoming Venice-set movie Gatto.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tFirst announced in Annecy last year, the new original film is directed by Enrico Casarosa and revolves around a cat living in the iconic lagoon city.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tKey voice cast Mark Ruffalo and Laurence Fishburne has since recently been announced. Ruffalo plays protagonist Nero, a black cat who is Indebted to feline mob boss Rocco, voiced by Fishburne.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tCasarosa revealed more of the storylines for the feature as well as characters, Saverio, a slapstick pigeon, and Maja, a talented violinist who busks on the streets of Venice. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tNero and Maja are brought together when Rocco sets Nero the challenge of stealing Maja\u2019s violin to clear his debt and be free forever from the mob boss\u2019s control.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tIn other reveals, Casarosa announced he will be voicing the character of Saverio.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tThe ongtime Pixar animator, who previously took credits on Ice Age, Cars, Ratatouille, Up and Cars 2, has a long relationship with Annecy.
