\n\tJill Schlesinger<\/a> isn\u2019t afraid to tell you how to really handle your dollars and cents.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe former head of an investment advisory firm, Schlesinger has served as a business analyst for CBS News<\/a> since 2009, helping to translate complex financial issues for everyday viewers and listeners. Now she\u2019s going to take her blunt advice to a new podcast<\/a>, part of an effort by the Paramount Skydance news operation to build properties that aren\u2019t necessarily tied to its flagship TV programs.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cMoney Moves With Jill Schlesinger\u201d will drop every Tuesday and Thursday, starting June 30, and feature the business-savvy advisor having deeper conversations with listeners, spending part of the program providing direct answers to members of her audience. <\/p>\n

\n\tIn some cases, she can be very direct. \u201cThere are so many people out there spouting bulls\u2014- that it is shocking to me,\u201d she says during one \u201cMoney Moves\u201d episode.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tIf the provocative language seems unexpected from a CBS News property, the surprise is part of the point. <\/p>\n

\n\tSchlesinger represents the latest effort by Bari Weiss<\/a>, CBS News\u2019 editor in chief, to create new CBS News programming that spotlights experts and provocative voices. Such work \u201cmeans treating YouTube and social media as mediums unto themselves, not afterthoughts\u2026and it means investing in our talent by building brands around them \u2014 and more deeply engaging the audiences that already love them,\u201d Weiss said during a town hall meeting with CBS News staffers earlier this year.<\/a><\/p>\n

\n\tMore traditional news outlets are growing comfortable with less formal presentations and personalities, part of a gradual coming together of stories news brands and new, digital upstarts<\/a> who are winning significant slices of attention through newsletters, podcasts and subscription media products.<\/p>\n

\n\tSchlesinger, a certified financial planner, says she\u2019s not afraid to steer her audience away from some traditional sources of money counsel. \u201cPart of the show will be dedicated to calling out the operators trying to sell you things you\u00a0don\u2019t\u00a0need (hello, \u2018finfluencers\u2019),\u201d she says in a statement provided via email. \u201cIt will also call out some of the elders (a.k.a. my cohort) who give advice that is outdated or\u00a0doesn\u2019t\u00a0recognize that the financial and economic landscape has changed dramatically since they were starting their journeys.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tSchlesinger will continue to host a separate podcast, \u201cJill on Money,\u201d in addition to \u201cMoney Moves.\u201d She will be joined in the latter by Mark Talercio, a certified financial planner who is also her executive producer.<\/p>\n

\n\tCBS News operates podcasts including \u201c48 Hours: Case by Case.\u201d<\/p>\n
