{"id":727653,"date":"2026-06-26T18:04:11","date_gmt":"2026-06-26T18:04:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/727653\/"},"modified":"2026-06-26T18:04:11","modified_gmt":"2026-06-26T18:04:11","slug":"convicted-rapist-nicholas-rossi-dies-in-prison","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/727653\/","title":{"rendered":"Convicted rapist Nicholas Rossi dies in prison"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>SALT LAKE CITY \u2014 The man convicted last year of raping a woman in 2008 before he faked his death, fled the country and assumed a new identity, has died.<\/p>\n<p>The Utah Department of Corrections announced on Friday that Nicholas Edward Rossi, 38, was pronounced dead on Thursday at a local hospital just after 8:30 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRossi died from complications of an existing medical condition after choosing to discontinue medical treatment,\u201d the department stated.<\/p>\n<p>Rossi, 38, was\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ksl.com\/article\/news\/utah\/police-and-courts\/nicholas-rossi-sentenced-to-second-prison-term-of-5-years-to-life-for-utah-county-rape\/51400192\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"follow noopener nofollow\">convicted in August<\/a>\u00a0in 3rd District Court of rape, a first-degree felony. He was found guilty again in September of a second rape in Utah County.
