MONROE, Wis. (WFRV) \u2014 A 70-year-old Wisconsin resident drowned trying to save a wounded animal this past week, according to a press release<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Pilot dies after aircraft crash in Wisconsin, FAA investigating <\/a><\/p>\n

The Adams County Sheriff\u2019s Office posted on their Facebook about a \u201cmissing persons\u201d case that took a tragic turn.<\/p>\n

On the afternoon of June 24, the Sheriff\u2019s Office received a report regarding a missing person. The man, a resident of Necedah, Wisconsin, had gone fishing the evening of June 23 and spotted a wounded eagle in the water.<\/p>\n

He called the Wisconsin DNR and a raptor rescue facility, with both organizations saying they\u2019d respond the next morning. The Necedah resident returned home and told a relative he was \u201cgoing to go rescue the injured eagle\u201d.<\/p>\n

After arriving on scene the next day, officers searched the grounds and waters and found the resident\u2019s body.<\/p>\n

An investigation determined that the victim got caught in underwater debris and drowned.<\/p>\n
