Ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz must obtain prior
\nauthorization from Iranian authorities, the country’s State Television reported on Saturday,
\nindicating that several vessels currently stranded in the gateway are seeking
\ntheir permits.<\/p>\n
Citing an Iranian official, the broadcaster noted that Tehran\u2019s
\nnavigation rules for Hormuz remain fully in force, requiring all vessels to
\ncoordinate with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy before
\nentering or leaving the passage.<\/p>\n
Tehran has repeatedly insisted <\/a>that ships comply with its navigation Earlier this week, the United States accused Tehran of a drone attack on
\nprocedures, suggesting it could impose fees on vessels using the route. The
\nUnited States and several Gulf countries reject that position, maintaining that
\nthe maritime corridor is an international waterway despite its location within
\nthe territorial waters of Iran and Oman.<\/p>\n
