Sophie Cunningham<\/a> has been dragged back into the Caitlin Clark physicality debate after Micah Parsons\u2019 brother, Terrence Parsons Jr., argued that one of her previous fouls was worse than Alyssa Thomas\u2019 hit on the Indiana Fever star.<\/p>\n

Thomas was suspended one game after the WNBA reviewed her June 24 incident with Clark, when she pressed her fist into the Fever guard\u2019s throat area during a matchup between the Phoenix Mercury and Indiana.<\/p>\n

The play wasn\u2019t punished in real time, but the league later upgraded it to a Flagrant 2 and handed Thomas a suspension, which has kept the debate around Clark, officiating, and player discipline alive.<\/p>\n

That conversation has now shifted toward Cunningham, Clark\u2019s own teammate, after fans began comparing the Thomas incident to Cunningham\u2019s past clash with Jacy Sheldon.<\/p>\n

Parsons backs Cunningham comparison<\/p>\n

A Chicago Sky fan posted a video of Cunningham\u2019s foul on Sheldon and questioned why the Fever guard didn\u2019t receive a suspension for that incident.<\/p>\n

Terrence Parsons Jr. agreed with the comparison and suggested Cunningham\u2019s play was worse than Thomas\u2019 foul on Clark.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is more egregious than Alyssa Thomas,\u201d Parsons wrote.<\/p>\n

His post quickly added fuel to a discussion that was already split between fans who believe Clark is being targeted and others who argue similar plays are treated differently depending on who is involved.<\/p>\n

Cunningham has become one of Clark\u2019s most visible defenders since joining Indiana, but that role has also made her a frequent target for rival fans whenever hard fouls and suspensions are debated.<\/p>\n

WNBA discipline debate grows<\/p>\n

There hasn\u2019t been any indication that the WNBA is reviewing Cunningham\u2019s past foul again, and Parsons\u2019 comment doesn\u2019t mean she\u2019s facing a new sanction.<\/p>\n

Still, the renewed attention could put more pressure on the league to explain how it handles physical plays after the fact.<\/p>\n
