AP<\/p>\n<p>Kelly, 64, first joined CBS as part of their studio coverage for the NFL draft.<\/p>\n<p>He was fired midway through the 2025 season after a lackluster 5-3 start and a drop out of the top 25. <\/p>\n<p>Kelly spent four seasons with LSU, going 34-14 with two 10-win campaigns.<\/p>\n<p>The school owed Kelly a $54 million buyout in what turned out to be an <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/11\/10\/sports\/brian-kelly-threatens-legal-action-as-54-million-buyout-drama-explodes\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">ugly split<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>He\u2019s spent 22 seasons coaching, starting at Central Michigan before moving to Notre Dame and LSU. <\/p>\n<p>Kelly is the all-time winningest coach for Notre Dame and led the Fighting Irish to the College Football Playoffs twice.<\/p>\n<p><img style=\"aspect-ratio:1.49926794;display:block\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-modal-image=\"39790406\" width=\"885\" height=\"590\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/brian-kelly-speaks-introduced-head-18987665.jpg\" alt=\"Brian Kelly speaking at a press conference as head football coach of the LSU Tigers.\" class=\"wp-image-39790406\"  \/>Brian Kelly speaks after being introduced as the head football coach of the LSU Tigers during a news conference at Tiger Stadium. Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>He told USA Today in April <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/sports\/ncaaf\/2026\/04\/15\/brian-kelly-what-went-wrong-at-lsu-advice-for-lane-kiffin-whats-next\/89608646007\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">that he hoped to coach again<\/a>, but did not get a job in one of the craziest coaching cycles in recent memory.<\/p>\n<p>Thirty-two FBS jobs opened up at some point during the year, 17 of which were Power Four job.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI still want to make a difference,\u201d Kelly said. \u201cAll the young men that have been under my charge over 35 years, I feel like I have a lot still to give. Even with all this money in college football, they still need mentorship, still need development. Money aside, I have a lot to give.
