ROSSFORD, Ohio (WTVG) – Golf is a pretty popular game around these parts, but depending on the weather, you can\u2019t always get out on the greens. There\u2019s a new spot in Wood County that uses technology to help you learn or perfect your game.<\/p>\n
Golf is a game that\u2019s been entertaining and infuriating people for centuries. Sydney Socha played on her high school team at St. Ursula, and as she\u2019s getting ready to leave for college, she\u2019s working as a golf shop attendant at Pin Seeker Indoor Golf<\/a> in Rossford. She says golf is truly a game for everyone. <\/p>\n \u201cYou can start when you are young or when you are old. You can grow and play your entire life. Doesn\u2019t matter where you are, it\u2019s always there for you. I feel like it provides a great opportunity for people to come together who have a passion for the same thing. It\u2019s a tricky game and it takes a special person to want to get better at it,\u201d said Socha.<\/p>\n It\u2019s been said that golf is a game of inches, meaning there\u2019s a thin line between a spectacular shot and a disastrous one. While it can be frustrating, it\u2019s the challenge that keeps people coming back. <\/p>\n Steve Haas is the general manager of Pin Seeker.<\/p>\n \u201cYou can hit 70 bad shots and 20 good ones, and all you remember is the good ones, and that will keep you coming out and playing more,\u201d said Haas.<\/p>\n Pin Seeker is the perfect place to brush up on your game or take your very first swing. Haas says the simulators allow you to play hundreds of courses around the world.<\/p>\n \u201cIf you want to play a quick game, work on your short game, drive or just have fun at an arcade, you can come out and do all those things,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n Socha says the technology here makes you feel like you\u2019re out on the course.<\/p>\n \u201cYou actually have a floor plate beneath you that is going to rise and turn and tilt in all different directions,\u201d said Socha.<\/p>\n Haas says there are also multiple hitting surfaces.<\/p>\n \u201cNot only are you standing on the green or the fairway, we also have the rough, the bunker and the greenside bunker,\u201d said Haas.<\/p>\n He adds that the technology keeps track of everything about your game.<\/p>\n \u201cYou can get your backspin, ball speed, club head speed you can get your weight distribution throughout your swing.\u201d<\/p>\n When you ask Jason Smith what he loves about the game of golf, his answer is simple.<\/p>\n \u201cOh, everything! The frustration, the joy, nature, being outside, everything about it. I have been golfing since I could walk, so it has been instilled in my whole being I\u2019m like a 2 handicap, so I\u2019m alright. Decent, I guess,\u201d said Smith. \u201cAll the interaction with this is awesome. It moves with you and gives you a real feeling of being outside,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n There are leagues and lessons available at Pin Seeker.
