The Friends actress, 62, and the Snow Patrol musician, 49, have broken up after more than 10 years together, PEOPLE can confirm. The Daily Mail<\/a> was the first to report the news.<\/p>\n Reps for both Cox and McDaid could not immediately be reached for comment.<\/p>\n The pair were last seen out together publicly when they attended the US Open<\/a> in September 2025. They got engaged nine months later, but called off their engagement in late 2015<\/a>. They reconciled<\/a> the following year but did not get re-engaged.<\/p>\n In April 2024, Cox revealed that she and McDaid had initially broken up during a couples therapy session<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cThree years in, we broke up, and it was really intense. We broke up in therapy. I didn’t know it was coming, whether I should have or not,\u201d she said during an episode of the Minnie Questions with Minnie Driver<\/a> podcast at the time. \u201cHe just broke up within the first minute. And I was like, what? We were engaged, and I was so shocked. He was in that much pain in the relationship,\u201d she continued. \u201cThere was that much that needed to be dealt with that he had to protect himself around his heart.\u201d<\/p>\n While Cox emphasized that the split taught her how to \u201creclaim\u201d her voice and her boundaries, she also explained that she was \u201cthankful for that breakup\u201d because it transformed their relationship when they got back together the following year.<\/p>\n \u201cIt really taught me how I operated in the world,\u201d she said on the podcast. \u201cWhat were the things from my childhood that I needed? Like, whether it was to be adored by men or things that I didn’t know how to let go to be in a relationship. To not take things personally, my boundaries.
