Core special teams player C.J. Goodwin announced his retirement from the NFL.<\/p>\n
Goodwin, 36, was a free agent. He spent the past eight seasons with the Cowboys and played all 17 games last season as a special teams captain.<\/p>\n
Goodwin told Rob Metzger of WTOV9 of his decision after his ninth annual PEGA Foundation All-Star Sports Camp.<\/p>\n
Goodwin began his career as an undrafted free agent with the Steelers in 2014. He appeared in his first regular-season game in 2016 with the Falcons.<\/p>\n
He appeared in 108 games with the Cowboys, playing 2,211 snaps on special teams, 62 on defense and one on offense.<\/p>\n
In his career, Goodwin played 136 games with one start.
