Only Anaheim\u2019s Cutter Gauthier averaged more five-on-five shot attempts per 20 minutes than Arvidsson, who also ranked sixth in five-on-five scoring chances per 20 minutes.\u00a0He does not need a lot of ice time to make an impact\u00a0offensively.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Latest episode<\/a><\/p>\n Vincent Desharnais<\/a>, defenceman\u00a0 What you see is what you get with Desharnais, a six-foot-seven punisher on the back end. That\u00a0size poses an obstacle for opponents. Desharnais ranked third among 201 qualified\u00a0defencemen\u00a0this past season\u00a0(minimum 40 games) in defensive plays per 20 minutes, which includes blocked passes and stick checks. He also finished 34th in overall\u00a0defensive-zone denial rate.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n San Jose generated 51.5 per cent of\u00a0the\u00a0expected goals during Desharnais\u2019 minutes at five-on-five, which led all Sharks\u00a0defencemen. And he was one of the team\u2019s top penalty killers, averaging 3:14 of short-handed ice time per game (fourth\u00a0among qualified\u00a0defencemen).\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n Desharnais is a stay-at-home\u00a0defenceman\u00a0in the truest sense of the term.\u00a0<\/p>\n Ryan Shea<\/a>, defenceman\u00a0\u00a0 The late-blooming Shea broke out in his age-28 season, putting up 35 points (33 at five-on-five) and helping Pittsburgh outscore\u00a0opponents 77-56 during his\u00a0five-on-five\u00a0minutes.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n Shea does a lot of\u00a0little things\u00a0well.\u00a0His 75.5 completion rate on five-on-five outlet passes was 32nd out of the\u00a0roughly 200\u00a0defencemen\u00a0who\u00a0played at least 40 games,\u00a0and his\u00a013 per cent\u00a0turnover rate was 29th.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n Teams are always in need of dependable,\u00a0low-maintenance\u00a0defencemen. Shea fits the bill.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n Colton Sissons<\/a>, forward\u00a0\u00a0 Sissons has amassed\u00a0a nearly 800-game\u00a0NHL career by being a solid and versatile defensive forward. In his first\u00a0and\u00a0perhaps only\u00a0season with the\u00a0Golden Knights, Sissons won a career-high 56.5 per cent of his total faceoffs, including 58.7 per cent of his defensive-zone draws.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n A\u00a0right-handed\u00a0centre\u00a0with extensive playoff experience, Sissons was seventh in defensive plays per 20 minutes among the 400-plus qualified forwards\u00a0this past season.\u00a0He practically lives on the penalty kill; over the past 10 seasons, Sissons has played the third-most short-handed minutes in the league (1,529:21).\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
