{"id":734726,"date":"2026-06-30T11:36:08","date_gmt":"2026-06-30T11:36:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/734726\/"},"modified":"2026-06-30T11:36:08","modified_gmt":"2026-06-30T11:36:08","slug":"colin-farrell-steve-coogan-join-rich-peppiatts-bad-bridgets","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/734726\/","title":{"rendered":"Colin Farrell, Steve Coogan Join Rich Peppiatt\u2019s \u2018Bad Bridgets\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t<a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/rich-peppiatt\/\" id=\"auto-tag_rich-peppiatt\" data-tag=\"rich-peppiatt\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Rich Peppiatt<\/a>\u2019s highly anticipated Netflix-backed period tale <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/bad-bridgets\/\" id=\"auto-tag_bad-bridgets\" data-tag=\"bad-bridgets\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Bad Bridgets<\/a> has added a raft of high-profile cast members ahead of its shoot this July.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t<a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/colin-farrell\/\" id=\"auto-tag_colin-farrell\" data-tag=\"colin-farrell\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Colin Farrell<\/a> (Banshees of Inisherin), <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/steve-coogan\/\" id=\"auto-tag_steve-coogan\" data-tag=\"steve-coogan\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Steve Coogan<\/a> (Philomena), Charlie Heaton (Stranger Things), Domhnall Gleeson (Ex Machina), Himesh Patel (Yesterday), Niamh Algar (The Iris Affair) and Simone Kirby ((Kneecap) are joining previously announced leads Emilia Jones and Alison Oliver.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tInspired by the book \u2018Bad Bridget: Crime, Mayhem, and the Lives of Irish Emigrant Women\u2019 by academics Elaine Farrell and Leanne McCormick, it follows a young Irish woman\u2019s adventures when she seeks a new life in New York.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tThe logline reads: \u201cWhen a mysterious letter offering escape leads a young Irish woman to 19th-century New York, she is pulled into the unruly world of the Bridgets, where mayhem follows in her wake.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t\u2018Bad Bridget\u201d is a term coined by Farrell and McCormick for the impoverished Irish girls and women who travelled to the U.S. and Canada in search of a new life and often found themselves on the wrong side of the law as they struggled to survive. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tPeppiatt, who won a Bafta for 2024 breakout Kneecap, is also producing under the Coup d\u2019Etat Films banner, his joint Belfast-based company with producer Trevor Birney, with Margot Robbie\u2019s LuckyChap. C\u00e1it Collins is executive producing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tThe feature reunites Peppiatt with Kneecap cinematographer Ryan Kernaghan.
