Huh)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">WASHINGTON \u2013 Americans&#8217; attitudes toward the economy improved slightly this month as <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/inflation-economy-trump-iran-mortgage-unemployment-fed-5ce96031b69298e3f4bee8c73587fd54\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">gas prices declined<\/a>, but their outlook is still mostly negative by historical standards. <\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">The Conference Board said Tuesday that its consumer confidence index rose 0.6 point to 91.2 in June, a figure that is still below its year-ago reading of 95.2. <\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">Consumer attitudes worsened after the Iran war caused oil and gas prices to spike, accelerating inflation and causing Americans&#8217; inflation-adjusted incomes to decline.
