\u201cYellowstone\u201d creator Taylor Sheridan made a rare comment about Kevin Costner\u2019s departure from the western drama, years after their rumored feud behind the scenes. <\/p>\n
In his Sunday appearance on the \u201cBill Simmons Podcast,\u201d<\/a> the producer, 56, claimed the \u201cBodyguard\u201d star, 71, was initially \u201conly supposed to be in the first three seasons.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThat was in his contract. In my mind, that\u2019s when his youngest son takes over [on the show]\u2026 But the network was so scared of not having Kevin be a part of it, even though Kevin was ready,\u201d he explained. <\/p>\n \u201cHe was ready to go. Penske Media via Getty Images<\/p>\n Costner continued his tenure on the series because it \u201cwas such a behemoth,\u201d Sheridan noted.<\/p>\n \u201cIt was such a huge hit. The notion of giving up a hit before it had run out of juice to squeeze is very foreign to a network.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThere was even pressure from some of the cable companies wanting to put it in their deals, that they were going to get an X-number of seasons of \u2018Yellowstone\u2019 to re-up what this cable company is.
