You could turn on virtually any local rock radio station and get treated to some seriously amazing jams, like the following four songs. Sadly, I don\u2019t really hear these tunes on classic rock radio nowadays, and that\u2019s a shame. These songs are legendary. Let\u2019s revisit some FM radio gems from the 1980s, shall we?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDirty Laundry\u201d by Don Henley from \u2018I Can\u2019t Stand Still\u2019 (1982)<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\tPlay video<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/1782918970_996_hqdefault.jpg\" alt=\"Play\"\/><\/p>\n<p>This gem from one of Eagles\u2019 finest musicians was a hefty solo hit for Don Henley. \u201cDirty Laundry\u201d made it all the way to No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and topped the Top Rock Tracks chart in the US. It was a rock radio staple for a while. But nowadays, I rarely ever hear it out in the wild. What a bummer.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\tVideos by American Songwriter\t\t<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLunatic Fringe\u201d by Red Rider from \u2018As Far As Siam\u2019 (1981)<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\tPlay video<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/1782918970_171_hqdefault.jpg\" alt=\"Play\"\/><\/p>\n<p>For a while in the early 1980s, it was impossible to turn on your favorite rock radio station without hearing this gem, especially later at night. While Canadians still get to enjoy this song on occasion, it really doesn\u2019t make it to classic rock radio stations in the US much anymore. \u201cLunatic Fringe\u201d by Red Rider peaked at No. 11 on the Mainstream Rock Tracks chart in 1982.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDon\u2019t Tell Me You Love Me\u201d by Night Ranger from \u2018Dawn Patrol\u2019 (1982)<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\tPlay video<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/1782918971_913_hqdefault.jpg\" alt=\"Play\"\/><\/p>\n<p>This guitar rock hit was all over the radio for a hot minute. Sadly, it seems like this genuinely great gem from Night Ranger remains overshadowed by \u201cSister Christian\u201d on rock radio, and I don\u2019t hear it much nowadays.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDon\u2019t Tell Me You Love Me\u201d by Night Ranger was an arena rock hit in 1983, peaking at No. 4 on the Mainstream Rock chart in the US and the Top 40 of the Hot 100.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFantasy\u201d by Aldo Nova from \u2018Aldo Nova\u2019 (1982)<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\tPlay video<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/1782918971_540_hqdefault.jpg\" alt=\"Play\"\/><\/p>\n<p>If you were around in 1982, you couldn\u2019t escape this hard rock 1980s hit on FM radio for quite a while. And yet, it rarely seems to make it to the airwaves in the 2020s. What gives?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFantasy\u201d by Aldo Nova was a pop metal favorite among fans in 1982.
