\n\tDanny Glover<\/a>, the 79-year-old \u201cLethal Weapon\u201d star, revealed on the \u201cToday\u201d show Wednesday morning that he\u2019s been battling Alzheimer\u2019s disease for a few years.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI can live with it, in a sense. I\u2019m sure as it advances, things are going to be different and changing,\u201d Glover said during an interview with Lester Holt.<\/p>\n

\n\tGlover was awarded an honorary Oscar in 2022, and not long after he was diagnosed with Alzheimer\u2019s, Holt said. The acclaimed actor rose to fame in the \u201980s for starring as Roger Murtaugh in the \u201cLethal Weapon\u201d films, and he also had major roles in \u201cPlaces in the Heart,\u201d \u201cThe Color Purple,\u201d \u201cPredator 2,\u201d \u201cWitness,\u201d \u201cTo Sleep With Anger,\u201d \u201cAngels in the Outfield,\u201d \u201cSaw,\u201d \u201cDreamgirls\u201d and many more. His last acting credit was playing Santa Claus in the 2023 TV movie \u201cThe Naughty Nine\u201d and the 2022 indie films \u201cAmerican Dreamer\u201d and \u201cPress Play.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI think it\u2019s really important for him to have control of his own narrative, of his own life story. That\u2019s really important. And the time is now. What better time but now for him to speak for himself?\u201d Glover\u2019s daughter, Mandisa, said. \u201cIt\u2019s important because people ask questions sometimes, and I don\u2019t want to be a dishonest person and say, \u2018Oh, yeah, everything is all right. It\u2019s all great.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tGlover was nominated for four Primetime Emmys throughout his career, plus a Daytime Emmy for directing. He won the Independent Spirit Award in 1991 for best male lead in \u201cTo Sleep With Anger,\u201d plus he received two Actors Awards nods and four Grammy nominations.<\/p>\n
