{"id":737459,"date":"2026-07-01T19:07:25","date_gmt":"2026-07-01T19:07:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/737459\/"},"modified":"2026-07-01T19:07:25","modified_gmt":"2026-07-01T19:07:25","slug":"metro-atlanta-police-issue-warning-about-viral-benadryl-challenge-wsb-tv-channel-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/737459\/","title":{"rendered":"Metro Atlanta police issue warning about viral \u2018Benadryl challenge\u2019 \u2013 WSB-TV Channel 2"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">GRANTVILLE, Ga.  \u2014 A metro Atlanta police department is urging parents to talk with their children about the dangers of a viral social media trend known as the \u201cBenadryl challenge.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">[DOWNLOAD: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsbtv.com\/smart-tv\/\" title=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Free WSB-TV News app for alerts as news breaks<\/a>]<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">In a social media post, the Grantville police warned families about the challenge, which encourages participants to take large amounts of the over-the-counter allergy medication in an attempt to induce hallucinations.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">According to police, some online videos have promoted taking as many as 12 Benadryl tablets at one time.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">Health officials warn that exceeding the recommended dosage can have serious consequences. For children ages 6 to under 12, the maximum recommended dose over 24 hours is six tablets.
