RALEIGH, N.C. \u2014 Both chambers of the North Carolina General Assembly passed a state budget Wednesday and are one vote away from sending it to Gov. Josh Stein’s desk.<\/p>\n
The state Senate passed the budget proposal early Wednesday afternoon, and the House of Representatives passed it later in the afternoon.<\/p>\n
Both chambers will vote again Thursday. If both chambers pass it, it will be up to Stein to sign it, veto it or let it pass without a signature.<\/p>\n
The budget proposal includes raises and bonuses for teachers and state employees, according to GOP leaders. It also includes a onetime, $1,750 bonus for local police and deputies.\u00a0<\/p>\n
