ANN ARBOR, Mich. \u2013 Former Michigan Wolverines<\/a> standout Duncan Robinson<\/a> is staying with the Detroit Pistons<\/a>, putting an end to speculation that the veteran sharpshooter could be waived.<\/p>\n

Senior NBA insider Chris Haynes reported Wednesday that the Pistons have no plans to release Robinson despite rumors that surfaced following the team\u2019s recent free-agency moves.<\/p>\n

Contrary to speculation, the Detroit Pistons will not be waiving marksman Duncan Robinson, league sources tell me.<\/p>\n

Speculation intensified after Detroit drafted Ebuka Okorie<\/a>, acquired forward John Collins<\/a> and guard Isaiah Joe<\/a>, and re-signed Kevin Huerter<\/a>, raising questions about whether Robinson would be waived to create additional roster flexibility.<\/p>\n

Reports indicate the team can retain all players while remaining within its salary cap plans.<\/p>\n

Robinson\u2019s case for staying<\/p>\n

Robinson, who starred at the University of Michigan<\/a> before beginning his NBA career, is expected to continue providing the Pistons with perimeter shooting and floor spacing.<\/p>\n

During the 2025-26 regular season, Robinson appeared in 77 games, averaging 12.2 points, 2.7 rebounds and 2.1 assists. <\/p>\n

He shot 45.6% from the field and 41.0% from three-point range while helping the Pistons win 60 games and lock up the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference during the 2025-26 season.<\/p>\n

A roster loaded from deep<\/p>\n

Wednesday\u2019s news means the Pistons now boast three players who shot above 40% from three-point range last season. <\/p>\n

Robinson led the group at 41.0%, followed by Joe at 42.3% and Collins at 40.6%.<\/p>\n

Detroit also re-signed Huerter, who shot 36.8% from three-point range last season, adding yet another perimeter threat to a roster that is quickly becoming one of the league\u2019s most shooting-rich lineups.<\/p>\n

The Pistons\u2019 decision to keep Robinson preserves one of the NBA\u2019s most reliable long-range shooters as the team continues to reshape its roster ahead of the upcoming season.<\/p>\n
