On <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=MeIws7F79Vo\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The Teardown podcast,<\/a> Jordan Bianchi and Jeff Gluck of The Athletic discussed fans not being happy with the quality of races this season due to the Next Gen car. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI do feel like if we haven\u2019t hit it yet, we\u2019re very close to hitting a tipping point with the fanbase where there\u2019s so much anger and animosity,\u201d Bianchi said. \u201cYou almost expect a mob outside NASCAR\u2019s Daytona headquarters with pitchforks demanding this car go away. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt feels like you\u2019re almost at the point, if you\u2019re not there already, because it\u2019s bad. It\u2019s been bad, it\u2019s not getting better, and the only saving grace you have are the intermediate tracks, and when is the next one of those?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>More on the NASCAR Next Gen car <\/p>\n<p>Gluck responded by naming the last race that was good from start to finish, based on his weekly poll. \u201cThe last good race from the poll was Atlanta,\u201d Gluck said. \u201cBeside from that, it\u2019s sort of been a dry stretch, in terms of the summer lately. The Coke 600 was great, and Atlanta was great. But really, since June onward, aside from Atlanta, it\u2019s been a little bit of a dry spell.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The NASCAR Next Gen car was introduced during the 2022 season. After the Iowa race last week, Dale Earnhardt Jr. spoke about the car on the Dale Jr. Download podcast, explaining when he\u2019s not a big fan. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a tough spot for me, man,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.on3.com\/pro\/news\/dale-earnhardt-jr-airs-out-frustrations-next-gen-car-state-nascar-im-disappointed\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Earnhardt said.<\/a> \u201cI love being a broadcaster in this sport. I am a big fan of NASCAR, I\u2019m a big believer of NASCAR, and I read a lot of the dialogue online. \u2026I want to say that I don\u2019t love the Next Gen car, but it\u2019s here. I don\u2019t love the Next Gen car. It\u2019s an IMSA car, it\u2019s a sports car, it\u2019s got a diffuser, it\u2019s got low-profile tires, it\u2019s got big rims and big brakes. It\u2019s a sports car, it\u2019s not a NASCAR stock car, but it\u2019s here.
