David Foster<\/a>\u2018s daughter Sara Foster<\/a> is opening up about her relationship with stepmom Katharine McPhee<\/a>.<\/p>\n

During Sara\u2019s Tuesday, June 30, appearance on the Let\u2019s Be Honest with Kristin Cavallari<\/a> podcast, the 45-year-old had nothing but nice things to say about her father\u2019s wife, who is three years younger than her.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe\u2019s really amazing,\u201d Sara told podcast host Kristin Cavallari<\/a>. \u201cIt\u2019s not easy coming into this family.\u201d<\/p>\n

The American Idol runner-up, 42, tied the knot with 76-year-old record producer \u2014 who is 34 years her senior \u2014 on June 28, 2019. They share 5-year-old son Rennie David<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Despite Katharine and David\u2019s age gap, Sara said it doesn\u2019t matter what others think because they are \u201chappy.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cShe\u2019s a fully consenting lady,\u201d Sara said of the Smash alum<\/a>. \u201cThis is not like some child bride. She is in her 40s.\u201d<\/p>\n

Discussing their relationship, Sara acknowledged, \u201cI think it\u2019s hard being a stepparent, obviously. I think you want to ride the line of wanting your partner\u2019s kids to like you and wanting to show up as a motherly figure<\/a>, but you also have to have respect for the\u2026biological mom, and I think it\u2019s a tough balance.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI think she does it really well,\u201d she added of McPhee.<\/p>\n

When Cavallari, 39, asked Sara if she views McPhee as more of a \u201csister,\u201d she said, \u201cI look at her as a sister, but she is my stepmom. She\u2019s my dad\u2019s wife.\u201d<\/p>\n

For Father\u2019s Day in 2022, McPhee thanked her husband for making her a mom.<\/p>\n

\u201cHappy Father\u2019s to the man @davidfoster who loves me like I could have only dreamed of & who made me complete in life by making me a mommy<\/a>,\u201d she captioned an Instagram<\/a> photo of them with baby Rennie.<\/p>\n

\u201cI love our little family. I love our big family,\u201d she added. \u201cYou have NEVER complained<\/a> over how your life is slightly different now. Well\u2026 you only complain that you can\u2019t stay up late watching TV in bed but how can I blame you -that\u2019s your favorite thing. You\u2019ve only made bringing Rennie into the world an absolute joy for me. To many more adventures baby! \ud83c\udf8aI love you to the moon and back.\u201d<\/p>\n
