{"id":738991,"date":"2026-07-02T13:39:17","date_gmt":"2026-07-02T13:39:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/738991\/"},"modified":"2026-07-02T13:39:17","modified_gmt":"2026-07-02T13:39:17","slug":"daywatch-a-retirement-and-a-promotion-within-cpd-chicago-tribune","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/738991\/","title":{"rendered":"Daywatch: A retirement and a promotion within CPD \u2013 Chicago Tribune"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Good morning, Chicago.<\/p>\n<p>One day before announcing\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.chicagotribune.com\/2026\/07\/01\/larry-snelling-retirement\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" data-mrf-link=\"https:\/\/www.chicagotribune.com\/2026\/07\/01\/larry-snelling-retirement\/\" data-mrf-recirculation-id=\"Article Links_0\">his own retirement<\/a>, Chicago police Superintendent Larry Snelling <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chicagotribune.com\/2026\/07\/01\/snelling-promotes-chief-of-detectives-ursitti-to-first-deputy-superintendent\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">promoted<\/a> Antoinette Ursitti, chief of detectives for the Chicago Police Department, to first deputy superintendent.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDuring her time as the Chief of the Bureau of Detectives, she has led efforts to strengthen investigations as CPD seeks justice for victims and families affected by violence and crime,\u201d Snelling said in a statement Tuesday. \u201cFirst Deputy Superintendent Ursitti is a purpose-driven leader who prioritizes the well-being of her fellow CPD members and the people of Chicago. She will oversee day-to-day operations across the department and step into her new role with more than two decades of experience across many areas of CPD.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Snelling announced yesterday that he will retire later this month.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDuring the past three years, I have had the privilege to lead this department through the 2024 Democratic National Convention and a record-low reduction in shootings, homicides and violent crime,\u201d Snelling said in a statement released yesterday afternoon. \u201cWhile this happened during my tenure as Superintendent, the hard and courageous work of the members of the Chicago Police Department should be given the credit. The air-conditioning technician.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Moshe Pomerantz\u2019s job is to keep people cool. Doing so, it turns out, requires ample time in the heat.<\/p>\n<p>As Chicago endures sweat-through-your-shirt conditions this week, Pomerantz is going about his routine, traveling from home to home, making sure air conditioners are running well.
