Serena Williams and Venus Williams won’t play doubles on Thursday<\/p>\n

The sisters were originally scheduled to face Camila Osorio and Solana Sierra in the first round at Wimbledon<\/p>\n

Serena, 44, tweaked her knee during her singles match loss to Australian Maya Joint on Tuesday<\/p>\n

Serena<\/a> and Venus Williams<\/a>\u2019 first-round doubles match did not make the official schedule at Wimbledon on Thursday, days after Serena suffered a knee injury in her return to competitive singles play.<\/p>\n

The sisters \u2014 who have won six doubles titles at the All England Club \u2014 were originally scheduled to face Camila Osorio and Solana Sierra on Thursday, July 2.<\/p>\n

It is not yet known why the match was not scheduled for play on Thursday. A representative for the All England Club did not immediately respond to PEOPLE\u2019s request for comment.<\/p>\n

It is currently not known whether the Williams sisters will play on Friday. The tournament typically announces the next day\u2019s schedule, called \u201ca full Order of Play<\/a>,\u201d the night before the next day\u2019s play.<\/p>\n

Serena, 44, tweaked her knee at the end of the first set of her three-set loss, 6-3, 6-7(6), 6-3, to world No. 53 Maya Joint on Tuesday, June 30.<\/p>\n

The 23-time Grand Slam singles champ pushed the match to three sets after winning a tie-breaker in the second set.<\/p>\n

In a post on Instagram on Wednesday, July 1, the 13-time Wimbledon champion thanked her family and fans for the support \u2014 and revealed that she suffered the injury during the match.<\/p>\n

\u201cI tweaked my knee late in the first set, but I\u2019ll be doing everything I can to be ready for doubles with @venuswilliams<\/a>,\u201d Serena wrote<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Due to the injury, the mother of two was able to duck out of media availability after the match, her agent said.<\/p>\n

\u201cSerena tweaked her right knee at the end of the first set and was therefore excused from her media obligations by the Wimbledon and WTA medical teams,\u201d Jill Smoller said, according to USA Today<\/a>. \u201cShe left site that night unaided and is doing everything she can to be ready for her doubles match later this week.\u201d<\/p>\n

Amid her return to the sport, Williams has been vocal about her motivating factors \u2014 and one of them is her 8-year-old daughter.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy daughter, Olympia, told me I should play with Venus,\u201d Williams told reporters at the Berlin Tennis Open<\/a> on Tuesday, June 16. \u201cShe\u2019s always right, so I was like, okay.\u201d<\/p>\n

Serena added, \u201cShe’s very serious, she knows. She’s very smart. She’s very wise, I think, is a better word. So I said, ‘Okay, Olympia, let’s see if we can do it.’ “<\/p>\n
