\n\tAhead of a Syracuse, New York, stop on his \u201cBigger & Weirder\u201d tour,\u00a0Yankovic revealed<\/a> to Syracuse.com in an interview published this week that he was offered \u201ca nice pile of money\u201d\u00a0to appear in a commercial for business-focused software, but he backed out once he realized the ad would involve AI. \u201cI\u2019m not a fan of AI,\u201d\u00a0he said.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cI\u2019m not going to mention any names, but they told me it was for a business. It was business software that would increase productivity,\u201d\u00a0Yankovic told the paper. \u201cI said, \u2018Oh well, yeah, sure, I could do that.\u2019 And then a week before we\u2019re supposed to shoot it, I find out this is AI. And I thought, \u2018Oh no, I can\u2019t be the poster boy for AI, forget it.\u2019 So I felt bad about kind of pulling out at the last minute. But yeah, I\u2019m not down with that.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tThe satirist, who also told the paper he\u2019s seen the \u201cWeird AI\u201d\u00a0jokes that\u2019ve popped up online, joins a legion of Hollywood performers who\u2019ve rebuked the technology. <\/p>\n \n\t\u201cBackrooms\u201d\u00a0director Kane Parsons has called<\/a> AI \u201cgenuinely harmful,\u201d\u00a0while Emma Thompson has said<\/a> the technology has induced \u201cintense irritation\u201c\u00a0into her creative process. Madonna also told<\/a> Vogue Italia in an interview published last week that AI and algorithms run counter to the way artists should approach making art.
