{"id":741155,"date":"2026-07-03T16:06:33","date_gmt":"2026-07-03T16:06:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/741155\/"},"modified":"2026-07-03T16:06:33","modified_gmt":"2026-07-03T16:06:33","slug":"monmouth-defensive-coordinator-louis-dirienzo-jr-dead-at-34","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/741155\/","title":{"rendered":"Monmouth defensive coordinator Louis DiRienzo Jr. dead at 34"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Monmouth University defensive coordinator Louis DiRienzo Jr. unexpectedly died Saturday, <a href=\"https:\/\/monmouthhawks.com\/news\/2026\/7\/1\/monmouth-football-mourns-the-passing-of-defensive-coordinator-louis-dirienzo-jr.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">the school announced Tuesday<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>DiRienzo, a Yonkers native, was just 34 years old.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOn behalf of Monmouth Athletics, we are heartbroken by the unexpected passing of Coach DiRienzo,\u201d Monmouth director of athletics Jennifer Sansevero said. \u201cLou was an outstanding coach, mentor and colleague whose passion for developing young men and love for the game made an immediate impact on our football program. The Monmouth community is grieving alongside them, and we will continue to honor Lou\u2019s memory through the lasting impact he made on our program and the countless people who had the privilege of knowing him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>DiRienzo joined the Hawks\u2019 staff in 2025 as a linebackers coach before being promoted to DC earlier this year.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Louis DiRienzo Jr. and his wife Allison at their wedding in 2022. Facebook\/Carol Stucchio DiRienzo<\/p>\n<p>He played for his father, Lou DiRienzo Sr., at New Rochelle High School, where he earned All-State, All-County, All-Section and All-League honors before going to play linebacker at Southern Connecticut State University.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>DiRienzo is survived by his wife, Allie, and their twin daughters, Audrina and Giavanna.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLou was a great person, father and coach,\u201d Monmouth head coach Jeff Gallo said in a statement. \u201cHe poured into our players and program, making a tremendous impact during his time here. We are heartbroken for his wife Allie, daughters Giavanna and Audrina, and his entire family. We will support Lou\u2019s family and our players through this difficult time and honor him through our daily work.
