Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOcean Water Closure: Until further notice, the open coastal area spanning from 0.25 miles upcoast to 0.25 miles downcoast of Anita Street at Thalia Beach in Laguna Beach is closed to swimming, surfing, and diving due to a sewage spill,\u201d the Orange County Health Care Agency<a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/ochealth\/status\/2072901075196375271\" rel=\"nofollow\"> said in an X post.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The coastline will be closed for a minimum of three days to ocean water contact sports, \u201cuntil the results of follow-up water quality monitoring meet acceptable standards.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re closely monitoring an active sewage spill of approximately 2,000 gallons in Laguna Beach, caused by a malfunction of a force main sewer line pump,\u201d OC Supervisor Katrina Foley <a href=\"https:\/\/ktla.com\/news\/california\/sewage-spill-laguna-beach-closure\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">told KTLA<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>A half-mile stretch of beach was closed due to the spill.
