{"id":745230,"date":"2026-07-05T21:05:09","date_gmt":"2026-07-05T21:05:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/745230\/"},"modified":"2026-07-05T21:05:09","modified_gmt":"2026-07-05T21:05:09","slug":"breaking-eggs-to-make-an-omelette-scuttlebutt-sailing-news-providing-sailing-news-for-sailors","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/745230\/","title":{"rendered":"Breaking eggs to make an omelette >> Scuttlebutt Sailing News: Providing sailing news for sailors"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"omc-format-standard\">\n                Published on July 5th, 2026 <\/p>\n<p>The International Society for the Perpetuation of Cruelty to Racing Yachtsmen annually recognize, with their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sailingscuttlebutt.com\/tag\/moosehead-award\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Moosehead Awards<\/a>, the foibles and fumbles of various Race Committees in northeastern USA.<\/p>\n<p>Due to the rating fiasco with the 2026 Newport Bermuda Race, the debate for worthy candidates could be short.<\/p>\n<p>The biennial race <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sailingscuttlebutt.com\/2023\/12\/02\/new-scoring-system-for-newport-bermuda-race\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">began in 2024<\/a> using Forecast \u2013 Time Correction Factor (F-TCF) for scoring which combines a boat\u2019s rating with routing software to predict when each boat should finish. It all went well enough, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sailingscuttlebutt.com\/2026\/06\/25\/redress-for-newport-bermuda-race\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">but not so in 2026<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The system seeks for the results to better reflect how each boat is sailed, but got derailed by technical issues.
