It\u2019s one thing \u2014 a lot of teams put the time and the energy in to have as much good planning as you can \u2014 but it\u2019s about the execution of those plans. The way Darren has gone about it doesn\u2019t surprise me.\u201d<\/p>\n
It\u2019s an encouraging sign for Jets fans to hear a coach who has taken the Vikings to the playoffs twice in three seasons. The Jets haven\u2019t been there once since 2010.<\/p>\n
\u201cI know there\u2019s not a day Darren shows up to work that he doesn\u2019t feel prepared \u2014 and I think that\u2019s proving to be the case,\u201d O\u2019Connell said. \u201cHe\u2019s not afraid to make difficult decisions, and I think that\u2019s because it\u2019s in alignment with the process that he has. He\u2019s attempting to execute a vision that he has for that organization. As a former Jet, it\u2019s always good to see the organization in good hands \u2014 and they certainly are with Darren and [head coach Aaron Glenn].\u201d<\/p>\n
Alignment is the key. If the timeline had aligned a little differently, Mougey could have been the new G.M. with O\u2019Connell in Minnesota. Instead, it\u2019ll be Nolan Teasley who\u2019ll hopefully develop the kind of relationship with O\u2019Connell that O\u2019Connell has with Mougey.<\/p>\n
Of course, that relationship will have the pause button pressed on January 3, when the Vikings face the Jets at MetLife Stadium.
