The Washington Capitals<\/a> arguably had the best offseason of any NHL team after meekly missing the playoffs last season.<\/p>\n

The team added top-six forwards Alex Tuch<\/a> and Jordan Kyrou<\/a>, former Blue Jackets captain Boone Jenner<\/a>, and physical defensman Vincent Desharnais<\/a>. The Capitals also inked Josh Dunne<\/a>, Justin Holl<\/a>, Jonny Brodzinski<\/a>, and Jacob MacDonald<\/a> to free-agent deals to help with their depth.<\/p>\n

Not only were the moves enough to bring back Alex Ovechkin<\/a> for another year, but they also made Tuch, who came to the team after signing an eight-year contract with the Buffalo Sabres<\/a>, really excited about the future.<\/p>\n

When asked on Thursday about the Capitals\u2019 free agency signings in general on 106.7 The Fan\u2019s Grant & Danny<\/a>, Tuch responded simply: \u201cI love it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cA lot of really good improvements to the roster,\u201d he continued. \u201cI feel that much more confident in my decision to come to a team that wants to contend and wants to win.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tuch went on to discuss almost every acquisition of his new team in other radio hits, having high praise for all the players and expressing his excitement for the team next season.<\/p>\n

Jordan Kyrou<\/p>\n

Kyrou came to the Capitals in a June 23 trade with the St. Louis Blues<\/a> that saw Connor McMichael<\/a>, Milton Gastrin, and a first-round pick go back the other way. According to Tuch, the Capitals\u2019 acquisition of Kyrou was finalized and announced right as he was working on his own deal out of Buffalo.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was almost a little surprised at first, but I was like, \u2018Wow, that\u2019s a great addition,’\u201d Tuch told The Sports Junkies<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Tuch, formerly a member of the Vegas Golden Knights<\/a>, is well familiar with Kyrou through their games against each other in the Western Conference from 2018 through 2021.<\/p>\n

\u201cPlaying against him, I think he brings a lot of speed and talent upfront,\u201d Tuch said. \u201cHe\u2019s a player that\u2019s going to give us a lot of firepower.\u201d<\/p>\n

Boone Jenner<\/p>\n

Tuch had similar praise for Jenner, a physical center, who signed with Washington as an unrestricted free agent on July 1<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cPlaying against a guy like Jenner, it\u2019s never easy,\u201d Tuch said. \u201cIf I ever have to go in the faceoff dot against him, I don\u2019t think I\u2019ve ever won a faceoff against him.<\/p>\n

\u201cReally excited to pick his brain, and I think he\u2019s gonna give us that depth up the middle. Just, he\u2019s so heavy and hard to play against defensively, and he comes in and produces too.\u201d<\/p>\n

Josh Dunne<\/p>\n

Tuch also talked about Dunne, who was his teammate in Buffalo the past two seasons before he signed with the Capitals as an unrestricted free agent<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201c[He\u2019s] one of my favorite teammates of all time, he\u2019s an unbelievable guy, super unselfish, will do anything for the team,\u201d Tuch said. \u201c[I] sat next to him for most of the year this year, [I] texted him right away. He\u2019s the best.\u201d<\/p>\n

Justin Holl<\/p>\n

Tuch praised Holl\u2019s character, saying he had heard great things about him despite never having crossed paths with him.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe brings a lot of depth and some experience, and I\u2019ve heard nothing but unbelievable things about him in the locker room,\u201d Tuch said. \u201cWe had the same agent, so I\u2019ve heard from my agents that he\u2019s an unbelievable guy.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve heard from guys that he\u2019s one of the best teammates they\u2019ve ever had, so I\u2019m really excited to get to meet him,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n

Vincent Desharnais<\/p>\n

Tuch discussed the physicality of the other big defenseman the Capitals signed during free agency<\/a>, Vincent Desharnais, who comes in at a towering 6-foot-7.<\/p>\n

\u201cHuge defenseman, loves shutting it down,\u201d Tuch said. \u201cHe\u2019s got the heaviest cross-checks in the whole league. I remember last year he cross-checked me.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt took me a couple shifts to feel back to normal,\u201d he added, mentioning that he\u2019s happy he won\u2019t be on the receiving end during games, and expecting Desharnais to bring that physicality to their opponents.<\/p>\n
