This is also a way of substantially reducing China\u2019s trade deficit with the USA.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Trump also thanked Chinese leader <a target=\"_self\" class=\"e1yy41x40 ef9u0v01 css-1ankfgb ecgc78b0\" href=\"https:\/\/www.scmp.com\/topics\/xi-jinping?module=inline&amp;pgtype=article\" title=\"\" data-qa=\"BaseLink-renderAnchor-StyledAnchor\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Xi Jinping<\/a> in the post, without saying why.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">The president\u2019s push is happening as US farmers are just weeks from their next harvest, boosting supplies available to sell. China is the world\u2019s top buyer of the oilseed and usually ranks as the biggest customer of American soy farmers, a trade valued at more than US$12 billion in 2024. However, US government data as of late July show the Asian nation has refrained from booking any cargoes for the coming season that starts in September as tensions between the two sides linger.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">Soybean futures in Chicago jumped as much as 2.8 per cent after Trump\u2019s post, the biggest intraday gain in four months, and traded 2.3 per cent higher as of 5.15am local time.
