DURHAM, N.C. (WTVD) — NBA star Trey Murphy III is returning home to Durham to partner with Durham Parks and Recreation for the 3rd Annual Back-to-School Community Bash this summer.<\/p>\n
The event will take place on Saturday, July 25, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the I.R. Holmes Sr. Recreation Center at Campus Hills.<\/p>\n
The New Orleans Pelicans forward will be on-site for an afternoon of games, arts and crafts, free school supplies, community resources, and more.<\/p>\n
There’s nothing better than coming home and giving back to the community that gave so much to me. I spent countless hours playing at rec centers across Durham, learning lessons that went far beyond basketball. Now, having the chance to give back, support the youth, and help set them up for success in school-that means everything to me.<\/p>\n

Vendors and local organizations will also provide Durham families with access to health, dental, and vision screenings, prescription glasses, free books, haircuts, community resources, food trucks, and live entertainment.<\/p>\n
The event is free and open to the public. Registration is required for each child, and because supplies are limited, families are encouraged to register early.<\/p>\n
