EAGLE MOUNTAIN, Utah (KUTV) \u2014 An Eagle Mountain family’s home was flooded in the middle of the night.<\/p>\n
The flood was caused by a city water infrastructure issue that sent water flowing through their yard and basement.<\/p>\n
\u201cI was lying in bed at about 12:30 [a.m.],\u201d said homeowner Colby Sorensen. \u201cI heard a crash, and everything across our basement kind of seemed like just pushed to the side.\u201d<\/p>\n

He said he thought a car had crashed into his family\u2019s home.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe vibration and the pressure that pushed through definitely was just surprising,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
As of Tuesday afternoon, the Sorensens didn’t know what they had lost and were still assessing the damage.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the City of Eagle Mountain said they were working on cleanup efforts and released the following statement:<\/p>\n
“Last night, Eagle Mountain City responded to a water infrastructure issue that affected a small number of homes in the North Ranch neighborhood. City crews worked overnight to repair the issue, and water service has been restored.<\/p>\n
The City will continue cleanup efforts today, including removing mud that accumulated in front of an affected home. Equipment needed for the cleanup is scheduled to arrive this afternoon.<\/p>\n
City staff have been in direct contact with the homeowner to discuss the situation and provide ongoing support. We appreciate the patience and understanding of the affected residents as our crews complete the remaining cleanup efforts.<\/p>\n
