RED HILL, SC (WMBF) – Residents in the Red Hill area are being asked to boil their water before using it for drinking or cooking.

Georgetown County Water and Sewer District said the boil water advisory has been put in place after a major construction project temporarily took the Red Hill Water System out of service to connect a new elevated storage tank.

During the outage, customers in the Red Hill service area experienced little to no water pressure.

Once service is restored, residents should bring all water used for drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing teeth or preparing food to a rolling boil for at least one full minute before use, the district said. Customers will be notified when the advisory has been lifted.

The district said it will collect bacteriological water samples and analyze them to verify the water is safe for consumption. The advisory will remain in effect until lab results confirm the water meets all drinking water standards.

Anyone with questions can contact the district’s customer service department at (843) 546-8408.
